Understanding unmet need for children and young people involved in serious violence

Working with the team was a positive and seamless experience. They quickly understood our requirements, communicated effectively throughout the project, and delivered high quality interviews with professionals working with children, helping us to better understand the nature and impact of serious violence in Surrey. The final report was exceptionally well produced, offering detailed insights and clear, evidence based recommendations to support future work in this area.

HomeFirst patients and carers research

Luminus delivered a comprehensive and insightful piece of work that has provided us
with a much deeper understanding of the experiences of unpaid carers supporting
patients using the Surrey Downs HomeFirst service. The findings highlighted both the
strengths of the HomeFirst model and the challenges faced by carers, helping us
identify important gaps in support and opportunities for service improvement. The
recommendations are practical, evidence-based, and will play a valuable role in shaping
future developments. We particularly valued Luminus’s commitment to ensuring carers’
voices were at the centre of the project and translated into meaningful action.

Carer breaks service co-production

We have closely worked with Luminus over the years and found them immensely helpful when gaining feedback from carers about services which support carers and the people they care for. Recently Luminus provided insight on what carers needed from a breaks service which was extremely informative and enlightening and has now progressed to provided an enhanced service for carers in Surrey. Without Luminus intervention in gaining feedback from carers, and staff teams working in the sector which led to them leading co-production meetings we would not be in the positive situation we are in today.

I am really pleased with the qualitative patient engagement Luminus undertook for us at Ashtead hospital. They spoke to a good cross section of inpatients and outpatients, private and NHS. We recently commissioned Healthwatch Surrey to undertake a patient engagement project to learn the views of some of our local patients regarding access to primary care services to help shape service provision for a new contract beginning in October 2022. From the outset, Healthwatch Surrey took time to understand our requirements and prepare a comprehensive plan, communicating with updates throughout the process. Healthwatch Surrey’s extensive experience in undertaking this level of engagement and the detailed responses documented in the final report, have really added weight to our overall evaluation. We definitely intend to re-engage with Healthwatch Surrey at a later date with a follow up patient survey and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking to secure impartial, comprehensive views of local people accessing healthcare services.
